The patient receives a text message automatically once you start reviewing their chart, but this may go unnoticed. Using QDoc’s 3CX phone system, you can call the patient to notify them that you are waiting without blocking your number and appear as QDoc on their caller ID. You can also let the patient know that they may need to refresh their browser to be able to join the meeting. If they are accessing QDoc through their phone, they will have to disconnect from your phone call before joining the meeting so that the audio check will work. If they do not respond after several minutes, exit the encounter and mark it as ‘Incomplete – Do not bill’.
We are working towards sending the patient a pre-recorded phone call message in addition to the text to notify them that a physician is waiting to see them.
