QDoc is a free service available to Canadian residents (excluding Quebec residents) that are physically located in British Columbia, Manitoba, Nunavut and NW Ontario and hold a valid provincial health card. Patients who do not hold a provincial health card can also use QDoc at a flat rate cost.

Where is QDoc available in Canada?

QDoc Virtual Healthcare is available to eligible patients across all of British Columbia, Manitoba, Nunavut, and NW Ontario.

Can I get lab tests or a referral?

Yes – during your visit with a provider, the doctor or nurse practitioner can order lab tests or write a referral for you to see a specialist if they feel that it is necessary and appropriate. You will be able to view, download, and print your referrals and lab requisitions by clicking the “Documents” button on your patient card. For more information on how to access your documents, view the section ‘How can I access my sick note/referral/lab requisition?’.

Can I get a prescription if needed?

A healthcare provider may prescribe medication following an assessment if it's clinically appropriate. Your recommended plan will depend on your individual needs.

If medication is prescribed, the prescription will be sent to any pharmacy of your choice.

Can I get a doctor's note on QDoc?

Yes – if you request a sick note during your visit with a provider, the doctor or nurse practitioner can complete and sign a note that you can then access by clicking the “Documents” button on your patient card. For more information on how to access your sick note, view the section ‘How can I access my sick note/referral/lab requisition?’.

A fee of $30.00 may be applicable for the issuance of sick notes.

What can an online doctor treat?

QDoc Virtual Healthcare can be appropriate for many non-emergent concerns, including minor illnesses, injuries, skin concerns, medication questions, prescription needs, sexual health, women's health, men's health, mental health concerns, and other everyday medical needs.

When should I use online healthcare?

Online healthcare can be a convenient option for many non-emergent health concerns when you don't need to be seen in person.

If your healthcare professional determines that you need an in-person examination, testing, or treatment, they can recommend the appropriate next step. If you're experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
