Sprint 23

Patient portal enhancements

Here are some of the features added in the last 2 sprints:

  • Redesigned the patient homepage to provide a more modernized, minimal appearance that is easier for patients to visualize and interact with, as one of the first points of entry into our website.
  • Updated patient cards to include additional information such as age and patient province, providing a more detailed overview.

  • Incorporated hover functionality on patient cards to show all relevant patient information, allowing users to access details easily and quickly.

  • Implemented visual indicators on cards for open or upcoming appointments to draw attention to the patient card.

  • Added ability for patients to upload media during encounter, and have doctor able to see them in meeting as soon as they are uploaded

  • Added ability for patients to upload videos for physician to review in pre meeting chart or during encounter

  • Verification code received from SMS can now be autocomplete if using mobile device and that’s for both patients and physicians

  • Patients can now save a preferred name in the system. If they have, it will be visible to physicians during encounters and when looking up patients.

  • Redesigned and organized patient documents

  • Patients’ email addresses have been added to the patient demographics displayed when a row of the waitlist is clicked. If a physician suspects the patient’s phone number is incorrect, they may try to contact the patient by email.

Waitlist Notification for patients

Ideally, physicians should notify priority patients or patients who have been waiting for the longest first. If the patient doesn’t join the encounter within 10 minutes of accepting waitlist notification, we text them and ask them to reply with 1 of 3 options.

  • Cancel” : Will cancel their encounter

  • “Reschedule“: Will disable them on the waitlist, and re-add them in half an hour (using the same encounter) starting with a wait time of 0 minutes again.

  • Support“: Use this if the patient is having technical issues. Their row on the waitlist will display “technical issue” and will have a button requesting for a physician to contact the patient manually via phone. Clicking this button will display the patients phone number and then bring the physician to the manual encounter screen.

Patient’s second encounter in the same calendar day

If a patient returns for a second encounter in the same calendar day, we now try and connect them to the previous physician they saw and this is how it works:

  • The physician will get a text that a patient they saw previously has returned for a follow-up.

  • While they’re waiting in the queue the only physician that can pick them up is the previous physician that saw them.

  • Once they’re on the waitlist any physician can pick them up, but the waitlist will display that they have already been seen today.

  • A patient can send a message to the physician that saw them after their encounter as long as it’s on the same calendar day.

  • This message will be texted to the doctor and they will be asked to contact the patient through 3CX.

STI Clinic

Patients can enter QCode for STI role to connect directly with the physician registered in the STI role.

  • Patients will be asked a series of screening questions before connecting to a physician.

  • The results of the screening assessment will be available to the physician on the pre-meeting chart and info section for that specific encounter.
