For Doctors
QDoc is dedicated to providing top-notch care. Our Doctor’s Portal is a cutting-edge cloud-based solution that provides high levels of interactivity while maintaining ease of use and security. Patient images and reports are available to view with zero footprints and in real-time.
QDoc is a tool physicians can use to work when they want, where they want. See patients conveniently from the comfort of your own home. QDoc focuses on ease of use and convenience for both doctor and patient. Governments and insurance companies are billed directly, you are notified by text when there is a patient to be seen, administration needs are handled, along with many more exciting features.
When there are patients to be seen, you will be notified by text. Click on the text if you want to, otherwise, another QDoc doctor will pick up the patient. If you are ready to see a patient, click “accept patient visit” and start an end to end encrypted video call with the patient.
A transcript of the visit is attached to the patient’s chart using voice recognition as well as an audio file. If the patient requires additional care, you may direct patients to be seen physically at either one of our partner clinics or your own clinic(s).
Work from where ever you want, whenever you want and as much as you want. We book the patients for you, chart for you and bill for you. All you have to do is provide great patient care.
It costs you nothing to try.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
The patient receives a text message automatically once you start reviewing their chart, but this may go unnoticed. Using QDoc’s 3CX phone system, you can call the patient to notify them that you are waiting without blocking your number and appear as QDoc on their caller ID. You can also let the patient know that they may need to refresh their browser to be able to join the meeting. If they are accessing QDoc through their phone, they will have to disconnect from your phone call before joining the meeting so that the audio check will work. If they do not respond after several minutes, exit the encounter and mark it as ‘Incomplete – Do not bill’.
We are working towards sending the patient a pre-recorded phone call message in addition to the text to notify them that a physician is waiting to see them.
At the moment, no. To send both in one encounter, the two medications will need to both be on a single prescription. To send them separately, you can send Rx 1 during the encounter. After the visit has ended, create a manual encounter to send Rx 2. We are working on developing this ability, so please check again soon.
Yes! QDoc has met with the CPSM on several occasions to discuss how we can provide a virtual medical care service to Manitobans that meets their virtual care standard. They have approved of our platform and our expectations and have confirmed that we meet their standard.
Upon request, QDoc can provide you with a template of our Virtual Care Plan, which has been submitted to and approved by the CPSM.
Most questions are in reference to section 5.2.1.ii: “Registrants providing virtual medical care must have the ability themselves to provide a timely physical assessment of the patient.”
Each of our physicians is associated with a clinic from which they can offer in-person care. In order to facilitate easier access, we use the patient’s postal code to preferentially connect them with a physician that works in their RHA. We also have three partner clinics across the province where patients can be seen if needed.
When a patient needs to be seen in person, our expectation is that the QDoctor will offer to see them first. If the patient prefers to go elsewhere, due to geographic proximity or appointment availability, then the QDoctor will send a referral. Having offered to see the patient and having declared the ability to do so ensures that QDoc meets this standard.
If a physician is not associated with a physical clinic in which they can see QDoc patients, they can offer to see the patient at The Minor Illness and Injury Clinic or the Pan Am Clinic in Winnipeg within 2 weeks from the time of the virtual encounter. The majority of patients will prefer to receive a referral to a different clinic where they can be seen sooner. Please see ‘How do I Arrange to Use Space at The Minor Illness and Injury Clinic or the Pan Am Clinic’ below for more information.
If you are not associated with a clinic and a patient needs to be seen in person, you can offer to see them at TMIIC within 2 weeks from the time of your virtual encounter. If the patient chooses this option, you will have to complete the following steps in order to schedule this in person appointment:
- Call Dr. Norman Silver to notify him that you need to use space at TMIIC.
- Dr. Silver will contact TMIIC and notify them of your need.
- TMIIC will contact you and discuss some availability options for you to use their space.
- You will contact the patient with these options and confirm a date/time for your visit.
- You will contact TMIIC and confirm the date/time when you will be using their space.
No – the CPSM mandates that all Manitoba-licensed physicians must be physically located in Manitoba while treating patients. The patients must also be located in Manitoba, Nunavut, or NW Ontario to be treated by a Manitoba-licensed physician.
Patients can access lab and X-ray orders through the View Documents button on their patient card. The orders can then be downloaded, printed, and taken to the patient’s preferred clinic. All other diagnostic imaging requisitions must be faxed to Central Intake – the print-and-go method only works for labs and X-rays.
No – there is no minimum requirement for the number of patients seen on QDoc. However, the more, the merrier!
If they do not respond after several minutes, exit the encounter and mark it as ‘Incomplete – Do not bill’.
We are working towards sending the patient a pre-recorded phone call message in addition to the text to notify them that a physician is waiting to see them.
QDoc will bill $90 per visit for MSH private insurance and $100 for other private insurance providers. Once these funds have been received from the insurance company, you will be paid 85% of those rates.
QDoc sends payments out to our doctors twice monthly: on the 15th (or the nearest business day) and on the last business day of the month. Please note that there are occasional circumstances, such as when a cut-off date lands on a holiday, where payment may be delayed.
We have been notified by the bank that EFTs can take up to 72 hours to be received. If you notice that your payments arrive later than anticipated, please let us know so that we can adjust accordingly.
‘Update Demographics / Edit Patient Info’ button during encounter.
If a parent started an encounter under their name when the visit is for their child, then make sure that the parent has not had any previous encounters for themselves prior to changing the patient info to the child’s.
When a patient creates their profile, they have the option of selecting their family doctor and clinic from a list provided by QDoc. At the start of every encounter through QDoc, they are asked whether they want a copy of this encounter sent to their primary care provider (PCP). If they select Yes, then a copy of the Encounter Summary (automatically generated with each encounter) is faxed to the clinic selected in the patient’s profile.
If the patient did not select a doctor/clinic when creating their profile but said that they do want a copy sent to their PCP, the QDoctor can select ‘Edit Patient Info’ during the encounter to add the family doctor/clinic.
Please forward the results to QDoc’s fax number (204-272-9061) and we will make sure that the results are properly linked to the patient’s profile.
Yes – as a patient’s results come in, you will receive a text notifying you that there are results ready to be reviewed. While you are reviewing the results, you can type out a small comment for the patient letting them know that the results are normal or if you will be contacting them shortly for a follow-up. The patient will receive this comment in a text message notifying them that their results are ready (they are not able to see the results until they have been reviewed). If the results are not normal, you will create a Manual Encounter and phone the patient to discuss their results and any treatment plan that you deem necessary.
If you are not able to review the patient’s results within 24 hours, they will be escalated to all QDoc physicians.
Encounter summaries are automatically created using information entered by the patient, information generated during the encounter, and notes written by the physician during the encounter. These summaries are saved to the patient’s profile and are faxed to the patient’s primary care provider, allowing the patient’s medical history to stay up to date.
The QDoc software also takes an audio recording of each encounter. In order to keep our forms clear and concise, a dictation of this recording is not included on the Encounter Summary. However, each recording is stored in the QDoc database, linked to the corresponding patient and encounter. According to the CMPA, audio recordings are the best way for physicians to protect themselves from a medical legal perspective and in the case of auditing. At the bottom of each Encounter Summary, there is a disclaimer: ‘As part of the medical visit, QDoc records the audio of the encounter. If you need further information for this encounter, please contact us at info@qdoc.ca.’
Yes – using QDoc’s Clinic Hours feature, doctors can enter their availability into the QDoc system simply by responding to a few text messages. Patients will then have the option to book your first available appointment rather than wait in our queue or waiting list.
If your availability changes throughout the day, you can cancel your appointments and any patients that have accepted them will be offered the next available slot or will be placed back on the wait list.
